If your teenager comes home drunk how will you respond?
What if they come home high?
Don’t wait until this happens. Set the rules before this happens. Some teenagers may try various substances. They need to know what your limits, expectations and consequences will be before they choose to use. Continued use of substance can be dangerous to your teenager. If you believe your teenager is using substances, seek professional assistance. A counselor can assess and offer the appropriate level of intervention.
How to know if your teenager is using
The following are guidelines and are not meant to be an all inclusive list, as some of these could be part of their teenage development. Some symptoms may include: change in behavior-less interested in doing things they use to like doing. Easily irritated. Sleeping a lot. Not telling you where they will be, needing money, stealing from you, or stores. Other signs include: new friends, not attending school, poor grades and increase in defiance at home.
